The Cyprus Film Days for Children and Youth Festival 2025 announces the 2nd National Short Film Competition.

Following the great success of last year’s event, the Short Film Competition, for children and youth, returns this year with the aim of achieving an even greater number of participations and even more creative and high-quality films. The competition is held with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Culture Sports and Youth, as part of the 23rd Cyprus Film Days International Festival 2025, co-organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Rialto Theatre. The festival will take place from April 4 to April 13 2025, in Nicosia and Limassol. The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture has been monitoring the festival and its various programs since its inception, certifying their high quality and their importance for the perceptual, cognitive, and aesthetic maturation of young audiences. 23rd CYPRUS FILM DAYSInternational Festival4-12 April 2025CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS The Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and the Rialto Theatre launch a call for submissions of feature films in the two Competition Sections of “Cyprus Film Days”, the official international film festival of Cyprus. The Festival aims at broadening its horizons beyond the geographical boundaries of Cyprus, as well as at attracting international film industry professionals and audiences, thus turning Cyprus into a meeting hub for the three neighbouring continents. THE 5-MEMBER INTERNATIONAL JURY

The International Jury for the 22nd edition of Cyprus Film Days 2024 is made up of five highly acclaimed, outstanding personalities of the film industry.  This year’s Jury is presided over by Slovak film producer Katarina Tomkova, and includes Berlin-based Turkish Cypriot Director of Photography Emre Erkmen, French film critic Sandra Onana, Greek director and writer Asimina Proedrou and Berlin-based Palestinian filmmaker Juna Suleiman. The members of the International Jury will be in Cyprus for the duration of the Festival and will select the winners in all categories among eleven films participating in the Glocal Images International Competition Section and in the Cypriot Films Competition Section. At the same time, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy selected work by the Jury members on the big screen.  The list of winners will be announced on Saturday 20 April at Rialto Theatre during the Closing and Awards Ceremony. DOT.ON.THE.MAP INDUSTRY DAYS

Submissions now open for 5th Edition of DOT.ON.THE.MAP The 5th edition of Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days will be held between 18 – 20 April 2024 in Cyprus, in the framework of the 22nd Cyprus Film Days International Festival (12 – 20 April 2024). Dot.on.the.map Industry Days is a co-production, training and networking platform that brings producers, directors and scriptwriters from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, from across the three neighbouring continents of Cyprus, together with international film professionals. It provides an opportunity to filmmakers from these countries to present their new feature film projects and network with international industry professionals. Producers and directors will “pitch” their new feature film projects to representatives of the international film industry. Awarded Films of the 21st Edition

The curtain drew on the 21st Cyprus Film Days International Festival on Saturday 29 April 2023, with the film The Fishbowl by Puerto Rican director Glorimar Marrero Sanchez winning the Glocal Images Best Film Award. The screenings and events of this year’s edition were concluded amidst a celebratory atmosphere, with the Awards Ceremony revealing the winners of the Audience Award, the Glocal Images International Competition awards, and the awards of Dot.on.the.Μap Industry Days, the festival’s co-production, training and networking platform. The film Love Dog directed by Bianca Lucas received two awards, Maha Haj’s Mediterranean Fever won the Authorwave Award, and Andreas’ Kyriacou Au revoir, Slumdogz! received the Audience Award. The very last film screened at the festival in Limassol was EO, a cinematic hymn to animals, directed by veteran Polish film director Jerzy Skolimowski. The closing ceremony followed immediately after the screening, curated by Dimitris Chimonas and Sessions, and presented by actress and performer Elena Kallinikou. Julie Bertuccelli | Jury President Following her studies in Philosophy, Julie Bertuccelli (1968) began her career, serving as assistant to Krzysztof Kieślowski, Otar Iosseliani, Bertrand Tavernier, Rithy Panh, Emmanuel Finkiel, Pierre Étaix, Christian de Chalonge, René Féret, Jean-Louis Bertuccelli and others, before embarking on documentary-making studies at Ateliers Varan in 1993. It was thereafter that she shot her first documentary Un métier comme un autre, followed by Une liberté ! (1994), La fabrique des juges (1997), Bienvenue au grand magasin(1999), Un monde en fusion (2006), Otar Iosseliani, le merle siffleur (2006, coll. Cinéma de notre temps), Le mystère Glasberg (2008) and A Portrait of Antoinette Fouque (coll. Empreintes).
